Police say a customer became enraged when a Wilmington tire shop couldn’t fix her vehicle, allegedly punching an employee and then driving toward another worker.
WILMINGTON, Del. — A Wilmington woman is accused of attacking two employees at a tire shop and nearly striking one of them with her vehicle after becoming upset that the business could not perform repairs on her car, according to Delaware State Police.
The incident happened at approximately 12:15 p.m. on June 19 at Jose’s Tire Shop, located at 3700 North Market Street.
Troopers initially responded to the business for a reported hit-and-run crash.
Investigators said 32-year-old Amadi Muhammad entered the shop seeking repairs to her vehicle. When employees informed her that the requested service could not be performed, she became involved in a verbal dispute and refused to leave the property.
According to police, Muhammad grabbed one employee by the shirt and punched a second employee during the confrontation.
Investigators further allege that she then got into her vehicle and drove toward one of the employees, nearly hitting the worker before stopping.
As she left the property, police said, she struck an unrelated parked vehicle.
The employees were not injured during the incident. The owner of the parked vehicle declined to pursue criminal charges related to the collision.
Through the investigation, troopers identified Muhammad as the suspect and obtained an arrest warrant.
On Monday, troopers located Muhammad in Wilmington and took her into custody without incident.
She was charged with:
- Aggravated menacing, a felony
- Two counts of offensive touching
- Disorderly conduct
Muhammad was arraigned and committed to the Delaware Department of Correction on a $5,000 secured bond.
The charges are allegations, and she is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
