State troopers release surveillance details after dog was left tied near fire hydrant in Hunterdon County
LEBANON BOROUGH, N.J. — New Jersey State Police are searching for a woman caught on surveillance video allegedly abandoning a dog along a Hunterdon County roadway before driving away in a black Nissan Altima.
Troopers from the Perryville Station responded March 24 after reports of an abandoned dog on Main Street in Lebanon Borough, according to New Jersey State Police.
Animal control officers arrived at the scene and took custody of the dog.
During the investigation, authorities discovered surveillance video from the area where the dog was left.
Police said the footage shows a black four-door Nissan Altima stopping near a fire hydrant along Main Street.
Investigators said a woman wearing a red long-sleeve shirt and black pants exited the vehicle while holding the dog on a leash.
The woman was seen walking the dog behind the vehicle and briefly out of the camera’s view before returning alone and driving away, according to investigators.
Authorities said the Nissan appeared to display New Jersey license plates on both the front and rear of the vehicle.
State police are asking anyone who witnessed the incident or has information about the vehicle or woman involved to contact Troop “B” Perryville Station at 908-730-7042.
