13-year-old boy critical after being shot inside home in Ahoskie

AHOSKIE, NC – A 13-year-old boy is in critical condition following a shooting in Ahoskie, North Carolina early Thursday morning. The incident occurred shortly after midnight, as Ahoskie Police officers nearby heard gunshots in the general area of South Catherine Creek Road.

After hearing the gunfire, the officers quickly responded to the location. 911 dispatchers informed the officers of an unknown individual inside a home on Roberts Street that had been shot.

Once they arrived, officers secured the crime scene at the residence and learned that the family had already transported the injured 13-year-old to ECU Health Roanoke-Chowan Hospital in Ahoskie.

The victim, whose identity has not been released, was later transferred to ECU Health Medical Center in Greenville. He remains in critical condition.

As of now, the investigation into the shooting is still ongoing, and authorities have not released any additional details about the incident.
