13-Year-Old Charged with Murder in Stahlstown Stabbing of 10-Year-Old Boy

STAHLSTOWN, PA—A tragic event unfolded in Donegal Township as a 13-year-old, James Campbell, was arrested and charged with criminal homicide and first-degree murder.

The Pennsylvania State Police responded to a distress call on the morning of August 1, 2024, in the 400 block of Donegal Lake Road, where a 10-year-old boy was found dead.

The young victim, discovered in a bedroom, suffered multiple stab wounds to his head, with a knife found beside his body. Upon arrival, authorities noted that Campbell had blood on his pants and feet, as well as several lacerations on his hand. During questioning, Campbell confessed to the stabbing.

He was arraigned on Thursday afternoon and has been denied bail.

The investigation was supported by the Westmoreland County District Attorney’s Office and the Westmoreland County Coroner’s Office.

As the case is ongoing, it is important to remember that all charges are accusations, and the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
