13-year-old Woodbridge student charged with possessing knife on school grounds

WOODBRIDGE, Va. — A 13-year-old student at Beville Middle School has been charged with possessing a weapon on school grounds after allegedly displaying a knife in a classroom, police said.

The incident occurred on October 31 at approximately 2:46 p.m., when the School Resource Officer (SRO) at Beville Middle School, located at 4901 Dale Blvd., was alerted by school personnel to a student reportedly in possession of a knife. According to the investigation, the student displayed the knife to other students in a classroom, prompting them to report it to school staff, who then notified the SRO.

School personnel and the SRO located the student and confiscated the knife without incident. Authorities determined that the knife did not pose an active threat to other students or staff.

Following the investigation, petitions were filed against the student, a 13-year-old female from Woodbridge, for possession of a weapon on school grounds. The case will be handled through the juvenile court system at a later date, with the court date still pending.
