14-Year-Old Girl Killed in Hit-and-Run in Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. — A 14-year-old girl was fatally struck by a vehicle in a hit-and-run incident Thursday night in West Philadelphia, police said.

The crash occurred at approximately 9:38 p.m. on September 26, 2024, in the 6500 block of Haverford Avenue. The victim, identified as Dawn Watson, was crossing the street with her mother when she was hit by a dark-colored vehicle, possibly a Mercedes, traveling eastbound at a high speed. The driver fled the scene without stopping.

Emergency responders from Medic 41 arrived shortly after and pronounced Watson dead at 9:46 p.m.

The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are searching for the driver involved in the fatal crash.
