14-year-old with 9mm Smith & Wesson charged for Sunday shooting in Newark

NEWARK, NJ – Newark Public Safety Director Brian O’Hara commends Newark Police Officers R. Ramasahai, J. Aquino, T. Hughes, and A. Giron for outstanding police work.

These officers apprehended a group of males fleeing the 100 block of Peshine Avenue after the ShotSpotter gunshot detection system alerted three rounds fired in the 100 block of Peshine Ave on Sunday.

A 14-year-old male was arrested with a Smith & Wesson 9MM handgun, with three rounds remaining in a high capacity magazine; after police received information from a concerned citizen.
