15-Year-Old Arrested for Deadly Shooting of Trenton Man

TRENTON, N.J. — A 15-year-old male from Trenton has been arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of Luis Torres Marrero, authorities announced today.

The Mercer County Homicide Task Force and the Trenton Shooting Response Team led the investigation, which resulted in the arrest.

The suspect faces charges of first-degree murder, second-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and second-degree unlawful possession of a weapon.

He was apprehended by the United States Marshals Service on July 24, 2024, in Norfolk, Virginia, without incident. The suspect will be held in Virginia pending extradition to Mercer County.

On July 9, 2024, at approximately 12:25 a.m., Trenton police responded to a call regarding a sick or injured person on the 200 block of East Hanover Street.

Upon arrival, officers found Luis Torres Marrero, 47, of Trenton, suffering from a gunshot wound.
