CAMP SPRINGS, MD — A devastating accident in Prince George’s County has resulted in the death of a 16-month-old girl, following a police chase that ended in a multi-vehicle crash.

Maryland State Police have identified the deceased as Zariah Plummer of Virginia Beach. S

he was airlifted to Children’s National Hospital in Washington, D.C., where she was pronounced dead.

The incident occurred shortly after 9:00 a.m., when a black Honda Passport SUV, driven by Dana Plummer, 36, also of Virginia Beach, was involved in a high-speed pursuit. The SUV crashed while transitioning from northbound I-495 to southbound Route 5/Branch Avenue, colliding with other vehicles and overturning.

Two other children from the same family, Zyian Plummer, 7, and Zayir Plummer, 5, were also injured and are currently receiving medical treatment at Children’s National Hospital.

Dana Plummer was transported to Capital Region Medical Center for his injuries.

The crash, which involved three vehicles, occurred under the grim backdrop of an Amber Alert and a police pursuit initiated by Virginia State Police. Charges against Dana Plummer are pending as the investigation continues, in consultation with the Prince George’s County State’s Attorney.

No other injuries were reported in the incident despite the severe impact on multiple vehicles. Maryland State Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
