BENSALEM, Pa. – Another Canadian citizen is facing possible removal from the United States after being arrested in Pennsylvania, marking the second high-profile immigration case involving a Canadian national in the region in recent weeks.
According to the Bensalem Township Police Department, 25-year-old Ontario resident Kaileigh Hogan is accused of stealing a FedEx package containing more than $43,000 worth of gold and silver before attempting to leave the country.
The case follows the recent deportation order issued against Canadian citizen Kaitlyn Tracey, who was ordered removed from the United States after pleading guilty to a simple assault charge stemming from a confrontation with a teenager on the Point Pleasant Beach boardwalk in New Jersey. Federal authorities said Tracey had also overstayed her authorized period of admission before being taken into ICE custody.
Investigators say suspect posed as package recipient
The investigation began on May 11 after officers responded to a report of a stolen FedEx delivery.
Police said the victim was expecting a shipment containing approximately $43,549 worth of gold and silver when a woman allegedly approached the delivery driver, claimed ownership of the package, signed for it, and left before the intended recipient could receive it.
According to investigators, a family member witnessed the encounter and immediately reported the theft.
Detectives reviewed surveillance footage, intersection cameras, and license plate reader data before identifying a Nissan sedan allegedly connected to the crime. Police determined Hogan had rented the vehicle from Enterprise Rent-A-Car at Philadelphia International Airport one day before the alleged theft.
Authorities said Hogan returned to the airport shortly after the incident and boarded a flight to Arizona.
Arrested while trying to return to Canada
Because Hogan was in the United States on a Canadian visitor visa, investigators notified U.S. Customs and Border Protection after obtaining an arrest warrant.
Police said Hogan was arrested on July 5 while allegedly attempting to cross the border into Canada at Lewiston, New York.
She was later extradited to Bucks County by the Bucks County Sheriff’s Office on July 31 and arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Michael Gallagher.
Hogan is charged with:

- Theft by unlawful taking.
- Theft by deception.
The judge set bail at 10% of $1 million, requiring $100,000 to secure her release. She remains held at the Bucks County Correctional Facility.
