16-Year-Old Charged for Utica Home Burglary

UTICA, NY – A 16-year-old Utica boy was arrested for an early July burgary at a residence on the 800 block of Jay Street.

Police said the victims reported several electronics, pieces of jewelry, and cash were taken during a few hour time frame while they were away.

“An investigator with the Burglary Unit was able to obtain surveillance footage and distributed a still of the suspect department-wide. An officer with the Patrol unit recognized the male and positively identified him,” police said. “On Wednesday, officers with the Patrol Division located the suspect, a 16-year-old male from Utica, and took him into custody without incident.”

Additional charges are expected to be filed against the teen whose identity was not released due to his age.
