16-Year-Old Charged in Deltona Park SUV Shooting

DELTONA, FL – A 16-year-old suspect, Anthoney Martinez, has been arrested in connection with a shooting at Dwight Hawkins Park in Deltona, Florida, on January 15.

The incident, initially occurring inside an SUV, resulted in the victim being shot in the leg. According to witnesses and the victim, the shooting was accidental.

Deltona Crime Suppression Team deputies apprehended Martinez on Tuesday night.

He faces charges of aggravated battery with a firearm, carrying a concealed firearm, possession of a firearm by a juvenile, and discharging a firearm from a vehicle.

Following his arrest, Martinez was processed at the Volusia Family Resource Center and then transported to the Department of Juvenile Justice.
