HS GIRLS BASKETBALL: Toms River South Defeats Central Regional 33-27

The Toms River South High School girls basketball team trailed by seven points at halftime Thursday but came back to defeat host Central Regional, 33-27.

Emily Donzanti led the Indians with nine points and Maria Gregorio added eight. Nina Shirey pulled down 11 rebounds and Kelly Porter grabbed nine for Toms River South.

Sam Wilber led all scorers with 10 points and Ashley DellaPietro added eight for the Golden Eagles.

The game was part of a boys and girls basketball doubleheader at Central Regional that raised more than $4,300 for the family of Trevor Kwatkoski, a Berkeley Township 5-year-old undergoing treatment for bone cancer. Chicago White Sox third baseman Todd Frazier, a Toms River South graduate, was in attendance to support the cause.
