HS ICE HOCKEY: Toms River East Edges Southern Regional 4-3

Zachary Noble had two goals and two assists Thursday as the Toms River East High School hockey team topped Southern Regional, 4-3.

After a scoreless first period, Noble’s first goal of the game gave the Raiders a 1-0 lead with 10:43 left in the second. But a pair of power play goals late in the period gave the Rams a 2-1 edge entering the third.

Patrick Romano scored two goals in a 30-second span early in the third period, both with assists from Noble and Patrick Hofmann, and Noble scored again with 8:50 remaining to give Toms River East a 4-2 lead. Matt Scalvino scored with 4:26 left in the game to make the final margin 4-3.
