HS WRESTLING: Jackson Memorial Downs Long Branch 30-19

The fourth-seeded Jackson Memorial High School wrestling team used a pin, a technical fall and a major decision to take down visiting fifth-seeded Long Branch, 30-19, in the quarterfinal round of the Shore Conference Tournament on Thursday.

Cartsen Digiantomasso pinned Ray Guzman at 106 pounds for the Jaguars. Matt McGowen scored an 18-3 technical fall over Isaac Shohet at 126 pounds and Mike Spino won a 9-0 major decision over Carlos Irizarry at 120 pounds for Jackson Memorial. The Jaguars also won five decisions, including Adante Davis’ 4-3 ultimate-tie-breaker win over Hunter Marhan at 195 pounds.

Chris Dean won an 8-0 major decision over Brandon Burkert at 113 pounds for the Green Wave. Long Branch also won five matches by decision.

Jackson Memorial will face top-seeded Christian Brothers Academy in the semifinal round of the Shore Conference Tournament on Saturday at Red Bank Regional High School.
