HS ICE HOCKEY: Howell Downs Toms River East 5-2

Anthony Gallicchio scored three goals and had one assist Thursday to lead the third-seeded Howell High School hockey team to a 5-2 win over 14th-seeded Toms River East in the first round of the Dowd Cup bracket of the Shore Conference Tournament.

Sean Mylod and Matt Goeller also scored for the Rebels, who held a 2-1 lead after two periods. Kyle Mcevoy and Zach Turcotte had three assists each for Howell.

Patrick Romano scored both goals for the Raiders and Zachary Noble had one assist.
