HS ICE HOCKEY: Middletown North Defeats Jackson Memorial 6-4

Justin Skelly had three goals and an assist Tuesday as the top-seeded Middletown North High School hockey team defeated eighth-seeded Jackson Memorial, 6-4, in the semifinal round of the Handchen Cup bracket of the Shore Conference Tournament.

The Jaguars scored three goals in a three-minute span early in the second period to take a 3-2 lead, but Khristian Acosta scored a power play goal to tie the score and Skelly scored his third goal of the game with 1:15 left in the second period to give the Lions a 4-3 lead.

Jackson Memorial tied the game again when Justin Mayer scored early in the third period, but Kyle Goworak scored a shorthanded goal two minutes later and Vincent Tomasetti scored with 9:01 left in the third period to make the final score 6-4.

Trevor Cear had a goal and two assists and Chris Petrone had a goal and an assist for the Jaguars. Goalie Matt Pousson made 25 saves for Jackson Memorial.
