HS BOYS BASKETBALL: Toms River North Defeats Long Branch 58-52

The fourth-seeded Toms River North High School boys basketball team trailed by four points late in the fourth quarter Sunday but came back to defeat 12th-seeded Long Branch, 58-52, in the quarterfinal round of the Shore Conference Tournament at Brookdale Community College.

Jaden Rhoden scored 15 points for the Mariners, who held a 28-11 lead late in the second quarter. Darrion Carrington scored 14 points and Hunter Petrick added 13 for Toms River North.

Anthony Velazquez scored 15 points and Tyree Morris added 10 for the Green Wave.

The Mariners will face top-seeded Mater Dei on Tuesday in the semifinals at Pine Belt Arena.
