HS ICE HOCKEY: Summit Defeats Jackson Liberty 3-1

The 16th-seeded Jackson Liberty High School hockey team and 17th-seeded Summit were tied entering the third period Tuesday, but two late goals from the Hilltoppers gave them a 3-1 win over the Lions in the first round of the NJSIAA Public B Tournament.

After a scoreless first period, San Hicks gave Summit a 1-0 lead with 12:08 left in the second. Leszek Gronowski scored Jackson Liberty’s only goal of the game with 4:12 left in the second period with assists from Joe Low and Nick Uliano to tie the game at 1-1.

Third period goals from Will Vitton and Luc Radice sealed the win for the Hilltoppers, who prevailed despite being outshot in the game 31-21 by the Lions.
