Section of Downtown Toms River Evacuated After Gas Line Struck

Main Street in downtown Toms River will be closed until further notice.  A construction crew was digging and struck a high pressure gas line near 512 Main Street.  Homes and businesses in the immediate area will be evacuating as a precautionary measure. Main Street will be shut down affecting traffic patterns in the downtown area.  Detours are being set up between Washington Street and Dayton Avenue.  Please avoid the area.
