Freeholder Director Joseph H. Vicari was among the dignitaries attending the official announcement of a new performing arts academy on the Ocean County College Toms River campus. The result of a partnership between the Ocean County Board of Chosen Freeholders, the Ocean County Vocational-Technical Schools, Ocean County College, the state of New Jersey and the Jay and Linda Grunin Foundation, the academy will allow performing arts Vo-Tech students to earn both a high school diploma and an Associate’s Degree at the same time. The school will be built next to the Grunin Center Theater and is expected to open in 2020. The state will fund $10.6 million of the cost with the Freeholders and Grunin Foundation each contributing $8 million. The college will pay $2 million towards the cost.
