HOWELL-Last evening at approximately 8 pm Howell Police Communications received a 9-1-1 call reporting a fight-in-progress at Tom’s Tavern on Asbury Road. As officers arrived at the scene, a motorcyclist was exiting the lot. An officer attempted to stop the operator however he ignored the officer and sped away.
Two additional Howell units who were responding spotted the motorcyclist also attempted to initiate a stop. The heavy set white male described as being bald and having tattoos on his neck and operating a Harley Davison motorcycle continued south on Rt. 547. He then proceeded onto I195 westbound. He accelerated to over 100 mph while operating recklessly. Howell officers terminated the pursuit because the risk to all those involved including the motorcyclist himself outweighed his immediate apprehension. He continued into Jackson.
Lucky for us and unfortunate for him, he lost his helmet. We retrieved it as evidence and will submit for DNA.
Although we are pursuing leads, we are sure someone knows who this is. We believe he frequents the Cassville Tavern in Jackson and lives in that area possibly in New Egypt/Plumsted. Video images will be posted.
The fight began when a female (described as wearing a cast on her arm) came into Tom’s and approached him upset that he was drinking instead of being home with his child. Another female intervened and the fight ensued. Knowing the police were being called, he fled. The female companion did not remain on scene.

To the offender, just be a man and turn yourself in. You most likely avoided a DWI. Deal with the criminal and motor vehicle charges. You will be caught if you don’t.
