Maybe Next Year…Brick Republicans Fall Short Again on Election Day

BRICK-Brick Republicans continue making no ground in their annual effort to fight back against a Democrat takeover of the township in the aftermath of Superstorm Sandy.

Mayor John Ducey (D), swiftly defeated Republican challenger Ruthanne Scaturro by a margin of nearly 35 points.

The council races were tighter, but Democrats Marianna Pontoriero, Paul Mummolo and Heather DeJong defeated Republican challengers Marilyn Lago, John Ciocco and Lois Turner by a 5% margin.

Brick Township’s governing body remains all democrat, including the mayoral seat held by Ducey.
