Jackson Memorial Beats Brick Memorial in NJSIAA Round 1 Playoff

BRICK-The Jackson Jaguars came out on top in the first game of the 2017 NJSIAA Central Group IV playoffs.

Quarterback A.J. Tolmachewich threw two touchdown passes to give the Jaguars a 22-14 win.    In the first quarter, Leo Shimonavich had a 52 yard touchdown run to put the Jags up 7-0.

By the end of the first half, Jackson had a 15-0 lead after Tolmachewich connected with Matt D’Amore for a 21 yard touchdown pass.  Jackson then got the two-point conversion after the play.

Brick Memorial put 6 on the board in the 3rd quarter after Tyler Sindel reached the endzone, blowing past the Jackson defense for 64 yards.

Jackson added another touchdown in the fourth quarter when Tolmachewich connected with Brandon Hirsch on 20 yard pass play that brought Hirsch into Brick Memorial’s endzone.

Brick tried to stage a late game comeback, but it fell short after Tony Thorpe had a three-yard goal line rush into the endzone.

7th seeded Jackson will play 3rd seeded Long Branch on Friday in Long Branch.
