Police: Jackson Woman, Dog Mauled by Pack of Pitbulls

On Thursday, January 11 at 11:10 am, Jackson Police officers responded to the area of South Boston Road and Bennetts Mills Road on the report of a female being attacked by a pack of dogs.

Officers located a 29-year-old female who had been bitten multiple times while attempting to protect her dog from 5 pitbull type dogs.

Police Officer Kyle Stybe attempted to intervene and was bit on the arm by a dog before deploying oleoresin capsicum (OC) spray to disperse the attacking dogs. The female was transported to a local hospital for treatment and her dog was transported to a local vet for treatment. The incident is being followed up on by Animal Control.

The woman’s dog later died from injuries sustained in the attack.
