Fire Destroys Toms River Hobby Shop, Brings End to Slot Car Track

On January 23rd at 10:40 pm police and fire units responded to 1545 Route 37 West in reference to an active structure fire. Upon arrival flames were visible from the commercial building. Multiple volunteer fire departments respond and brought the scene under control. Hollywood Speedway & Hobbies, Sharp Elevator, and Atlantic Protective Pouches were all significantly damaged as a result of the fire. The cause has not yet been determined and investigators remain on the scene this morning. The investigative team consists of The Toms River Police Department Criminal Investigation Bureau, Ocean County Prosecutors Office, and the Toms River Bureau of Fire Prevention.

The fire at the slot car speedway has effectively ended the business.

“We would would like to thank our slot-car family for all their support through this very difficult time for us right now. Due to a fire we will not be racing anymore. Thank you for all the great memories,” the company said today.
