Toms River East Little League Marks 20th Anniversary of 1998 World Championship

TOMS RIVER-When you talk about the Toms River East Little League it’s hard to not mention New York Mets third baseman Todd Frazier and the memorable 1998 Little League World Series.

It’s harder personally, for me not to mention my Tigers’ perfect season back in 1984 where we completed an undefeated season and won the local major league championship. Sure, not as glorious as a world title, but for most local Little Leaguers, that’s what Little League is all about.

This year, the celebration was about the current generation of future Little League and perhaps even Major League Heroes.

Little League World Series champion coach Mike Gaynor and other members of the 1998 team came out to celebrate, along with township Councilwoman Maria Maruca and Councilman Maurice Hill.
