Jersey Assassins Crowned 2018 New Jersey USA Softball State Champions

EWING-The Jersey Assassins won the 2018 USA Softball New Jersey 14U A division championship this weekend with a 13-0 shutout against Diamonds to Boardroom.

Kate Struz (Howell MS South) pitched a one hit shut out for the Assassins.

Ella Moore (Brick Memorial MS) and Erin Stilton (Jackson Liberty HS)  led the Assassin’s run production with 4 rbi apiece on Sunday.

Paige Nolan (Manchester High School) pitched two games to get the Assassins to the final, winning both, maintaining a 1.75 era and striking out 11 batters over 12 innings. Struz struck out 10 over 11 innings during the weekend championship tournament.

Moore led the Assassins at the plate going 7 for 12 with 6 total RBIs on the weekend, making several key inning ending outs in in the semi-final against the New Jersey Breakers and in the championship game.

Sophia Peluso (Monroe HS) and Christine Giattino (Goetz MS) each went 2-2 with an RBI in the championship game.

The Assassins are scheduled to compete next weekend in the Blue Chip Mid-Atlantic Eastern Regional Championship.

After the game a brawl ensued between parents of the Jersey Assassins and the coaching staff.  Ewing police responded, but no charges were filed against the parent who assaulted the coach.
