St. John Vianney Takes Out Donovan Catholic, Wins Non-Public State Title

After romping through the public school system this spring, a well-recruited Donovan Catholic softball team met their match at the hands of sophomore pitcher Julia Parker this week, ending their quest for a state championship.

Parker (22-0) silenced the Donovan bats along with solid defense behind her, giving up just three hits over seven innings.  Lindsay Nelson, who powered her team through a mediocre public school schedule this spring walked 6 and struck out 4 in the Non-Public A semifinal game.

Ally Jones and Shelli Rivard each drove in a run to help SJV take out one of New Jersey’s top-ranked softball teams.

SJV then went on to defeat Mouth St. Dominic 2-1 to win the championship.
