Toms River Students Learn Local History Through Cemetery Visit

TOMS RIVER-Mr. Vernachio’s AP Environmental Science students from High School North and High School East visited Riverside Cemetery this week. Although the annual trek coincides with Halloween, there is nothing intentionally spooky about this visit. Cemeteries are a great place to learn about the history of the area. Students collected data to determine survivorship of portions of the historic Toms River population. They also explored some history while finding Thomas Jefferson’s great grandson’s grave.
