LAREDO, Texas – U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Office of Field Operations (OFO) officers intercepted a significant amount of narcotics with an estimated street value of more than $362,000 in one enforcement action at the World Trade Bridge.
“I commend the officers for their hard work and commitment to keeping dangerous drugs off of our streets,” said Port Director Albert Flores, Laredo Port of Entry. “This significant seizure was possible because of the continued vigilance and alertness our CBP officers’ put forth on a daily basis.”
The seizure occurred on Monday, Nov. 27 at World Trade Bridge when a CBP officer referred a 1998 International tractor hauling a shipment of safety valves, driven by a 36-year-old male Mexican citizen who resides in Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas for a secondary examination. Upon a canine and non-intrusive imaging inspection by CBP officers, a total of 10 packages containing 18 pounds of alleged methamphetamine was discovered. The narcotics have an estimated street value of $362,436.
CBP officers seized the narcotics and the tractor. The driver and a 26-year-old male Mexican citizen associate were arrested and the case was turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement-Homeland Security Investigations (ICE-HSI) special agents for further investigation
