NEWARK – An Ecuadorian national was removed by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) Wednesday for violating U.S. immigration laws and turned over to Ecuadorian authorities where she is wanted for fraud.
Veronica Del Rosario Suasnavas-Montaquiza entered the U.S. as a nonimmigrant alien March 22, 2016, however, did not depart the country in accordance with the terms of her visa.
In February 2017, ICE learned that that Suasnavas-Montaquiza was wanted on fraud charges in her home country for defrauding her employer of more than $450,000.
ERO Newark arrested and detained Suasnavas-Montaquiza in August 2018 on immigration violations, and in January 2019, an immigration judge ordered her removed from the U.S. On April 10, 2019, ERO deportation officers removed Suasnavas-Montaquiza from the U.S. and transferred her to the custody of Ecuadorian officials upon her arrival in her home country.
