Manhunt Ongoing for Man Who Exchanged Gunfire With Cop in Tuckerton at Traffic Stop

Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer announced today that at approximately 10:22 a.m. Tuckerton Borough Police Officer exchanged gunfire with an unidentified male suspect after a motor vehicle stop near the intersection of Route 9 and North Green Street.  The Officer was not injured. The unidentified male fled on foot.  A massive manhunt is currently underway with assistance from the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office, Ocean County Regional SWAT, Tuckerton Borough Police, Little Egg Harbor Police Department, Ocean County Sheriff’s Office and the New Jersey State Police.

This suspect is considered to be armed and dangerous. Area schools in Tuckerton and Little Egg Harbor are on lockdown. The unidentified male was last wearing a blue hooded jacket and riding a bicycle in the area. If you see this man, please do not approach him and dial 911 immediately.
