JACKSON-Jackson Township Councilman Robert Nixon announced his immediate resignation, the latest in a very long line of township officials to resign in light of lawsuits and turmoil within the township political power structure.
The resignation comes days after legal testimony from Ken Bressi, his former running mate, and once-political ally was released. In that testimony, Bressi called out several Jackson Township public officials as being anti-Semitic.
Nixon said the strain of the attacks against him on social media has impacted his personal life and other jobs he holds, including being a lobbyist for the NJ State Policeman’s Benevolent Association and as a member of Governor Phil Murphy’s administration where he is the chairman of the New Jersey Schools Development Authority.
The past two years have been a turbulent time in Jackson as the township came under fire by the U.S. Justice Department, Attorney Generals Office, Agudath Israel of America and others for passing legislation some deemed was targeting the growing Orthodox Jewish Community.
