10 shot on Canal Street in New Orleans Sunday morning

10 people were wounded, two critically after shots rang out on historic Canal Street in the French Quarter of New Orleans Sunday morning.

The incident occurred during a busy Bayou Classic weekend.

Police Superintendent Shaun Ferguson said that the officers were so quick to respond that they thought they were being fired upon.

One person was initially detained, but police don’t believe that person was involved.

“We said throughout the entire week, please leave your guns at home,” said Ferguson.
