Freeholders Approve $2.5 Million Plan for Prospect Street Construction in Lakewood

LAKEWOOD-If you haven’t driven down Prospect Street in Lakewood in a while, you may not recognize it today.  The road used to be a quaint tree-lined road on the south side with some commercial and industrial buildings on the northern side.   Now, it’s lined on the southern side with high density housing from Cross Street through to the former Kimball Medical Center on Route 9 with more construction ongoing today.

County ordinance 2020-4 authorizes the reconstruction of Prospect Street from Cross Street to Route 9 and approved a $2.5 million bond to finance the project.

The ordinance was moved by Freeholder Virginia Haines, 76, and seconded by Freeholder Gary Quinn. It was unanimously approved by the board.
