Virginia Haines, Ocean County Freeholders to Close All County Parks Tonight

Ocean County Freeholder Virginia Haines, who is also a Republican National Committee member has been one of Holman's strongest and most public supporters. Haines has publicly endorsed Holman and has been soliciting support for the politically appointed accountant to replace indicted former party Boss George Gilmore, also a close ally to Haines.

TOMS RIVER-She warned she was going to do it and today she did.    After out-of-town residents visited Brick Township’s Mantoloking Bridge Park last week, Ocean County Board of Chosen Freeholder Virginia Haines, 75, threatened a total shutdown of the county park system.  Today, it was announced that as of 6 pm this evening, all Ocean County parks will be shut down.

“The Ocean County Department of Parks and Recreation will close the gates on county parks should the crowds become too large to be able to practice social distancing and to meet the requirements of the state regarding large groups of people gathering in one area,” Haines threatened.

The measure effectively shuts down the largest park system in Ocean County and limits residents’ abilities to continue staying healthy and in shape, confining residents to their homes, which long term can cause other underlying health problems for the county.
