Woman Found Dead in Burning Vehicle in Cherry Hill

On April 16th Cherry Hill Police found a car on fire with a person inside. Today, the department said it has confirmed the gender of that individual.

“We have confirmed the person who was found dead inside a burning vehicle in Cherry Hill on April 16 was a female. Her cause of death was smoke/soot inhalation and thermal burns,” the department said. “The death investigation continues.”

The Camden County Prosecutor’s Office is working with the Cherry Hill Police Department on a death investigation, according to Acting Camden County Prosecutor Jill S. Mayer and Cherry Hill Police Chief William “Bud” Monaghan.

Police and firefighters were called to a parking lot off Rt. 70 West around 9:20 p.m. When they arrived, they found a car on fire with one person dead inside.

Investigators are working to determine the identity of the person and the events that led up to their death.
