Atlantic City Protest Erupts in Violence, Looting

ATLANTIC CITY, NJ – A peaceful protest in Atlantic City turned ugly after protesters began breaking windows and looting stores throughout the city.   From the convention center to the boardwalk, crowds looted and pillage the city.  In one case caught on video, a rioter who attacked police was beaten with a nightstick and arrested by defending officers.  The riot prompted the city to enact a curfew Sunday night.

“The Atlantic City Office of Emergency Management has issued a State of Emergency. As a result, a citywide curfew has been enacted for the City of Atlantic City. The curfew will begin at 8 pm and will end at 6 am. During this time, only those individuals that are traveling to or from work or seeking medical/police assistance will be permitted. All others are subject to arrest,” the police department said.
