JACKSON, NJ – It has been almost four full days since a storm caused power outages across Ocean County and First Energy is now telling customers, it could be another four days until all power is restored. As many as 20,000 still remain without power according to Ocean County Sheriff Michael Mastronardy.
“Initially there was 187,000 people. JCP&L has done an outstanding job in getting many of us back in business despite many obstacles,” Mastronardy said of the recovery effort.
That message of appreciation is not resonating well with those who haven’t had service returned and are now being told it could take until August 11th to have their service restored.
Earlier this week Governor Phil Murphy came to Ocean County to applaud the restoration effort along with Jackson Township Mayor Michael Reina. Reina and Murphy both applauded the First Energy response.
A representative for First Energy today assured that crews continue to work hard to restore power and that linemen have been dispatched from other states, but stood behind the company’s timeline of August 11th restoration, offering no other consolation for those who remain without power,
