Alachua Sheriffs Arrest Child Care Worker Accused of Child Cruelty at A Child’s Place on Archer Road

ALACHUA COUNTY, FL _ On October 5, 2020, deputies responded to 6200 SW Archer Road (A Child’s Place) with DCF to investigate allegations of child abuse. Detectives from the Special Victim’s Unit were assigned to continue the investigation into the allegations. Video surveillance documented two separate incidents of mistreatment to a small child by day care worker Sierra Smith.  Smith is seen physically, verbally, and emotionally abusing a one (1) year old child. Smith roughly treated the child, snatching the child from the ground by both arms, pushing the child down with her foot, pushing and holding the child down, and other actions to maliciously antagonize the child.  Sierra N. Smith, 2/17/1999 was arrested on October 12 on two counts of cruelty towards a child without bodily harm and is being held at the Alachua County Jail on a $10,000 bond.
