Oroville Teen Facing Felony Charges after Shooting 12-Year-Old

Oroville, CA – On October 11, 2020, the Butte County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) responded to a report of a shooting at a residence located near the 5300 block of Margo Lane, Oroville. Deputies arrived and determined a 12-year-old victim had been shot. The 12-year-old victim was transported to a local hospital, and later transferred by helicopter to a Sacramento area hospital. The 12-year-old victim is currently in stable condition. Deputies and detectives spent the last two days conducting an investigation. Based on the investigation, detectives determined a 16-year-old juvenile shot the 12- year-old victim. The 16-year-old juvenile was booked at the Butte County Juvenile Hall on felony charges related to the shooting. On October 12, detectives served a search warrant related to the shooting investigation at a residence located in the 300 block of Lausen Street, Oroville. Based on the fact this is an ongoing investigation involving a juvenile victim and juvenile suspect, the Sheriff’s Office is not releasing further details about the investigation at this time.
