NJEA Endorses Teacher Mike Braun for Jackson School Board

JACKSON TOWNSHIP, NJ – The Jackson Education (JEA), the local arm of the New Jersey Educational Association teachers’ union has announced their endorsement for resident Michael Braun, an NJEA member who works for the Holmdel Public School District.

Braun is running for a one-year unexpired term for the Jackson School Board.

“The Jackson Education Association invited all candidates to participate and share their views on public education. As per NJEA PAC Guidelines, a screening committee representing a diverse body of members was formed”, the union said. “Each of the six candidates running for the board of education was emailed and USPS-mailed a questionnaire and invitation to interview with the screening committee…We were looking forward to hearing from all of the candidates. Mr. Braun and Mr. Mero were the only two candidates who submitted their questionnaire and interviewed with the screening committee.”
The JEA praised Braun’s experience as a public school teacher in their endorsement.
“He understands what it is like to be an educator and parent during these trying times. Mr. Braun shares our values when it comes to advocating for school aid, professional development, curricula, and programs that emphasize the social and emotional well-being of our students,” the JEA said. “He has the talent to ensure that Jackson remains a strong and successful school district.”
Braun is one of four school board candidates running for a seat on the Jackson Board of Education.  Other candidates on the ballot are Tara Rivera, Scott Sargent, Tzvi Herman and  Anthony Mero.   Braun is not listed on the official ballot and voters would have to write his name into the box that is labeled “write-in” on their ballot. Resident Allison Barocas is also running as a write-in candidate.
