Armed robbery suspects lead police on cross county chase

LAKELAND, FL – A woman in Tarpon Springs, Florida reported she was robbed at gunpoint near her home and the suspects were seen a short time later by a Tarpon Springs police officer.  The officer who initiated a pursuit was involved in a crash as the suspects fled, but was resumed by the Pinellas County Sherrif’s Office.  The chase went from Pinellas to Polk County along I-275 and I-4 east before Florida Highway Patrol officers performed what is called a “PIT” maneuver to stop the vehicle and apprehend the bad guys. One FHP was injured in the controlled crash.
