Police capture Jacksonville murderer at traffic stop

JACKSONVILLE, FL – Florida deputies have captured a man wanted for a shooting murder in September.   On Wednesday, September 4, 2019, patrol officers were dispatched to the area of 800 Arlington Road North in reference to an individual who had been shot. Upon arrival, officers located the victim, who was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office Homicide Unit and Crime Scene Unit responded to conduct an investigation. Investigative efforts identified the suspect as Nikkia Towns, 44 years old.
On Monday, September 30, 2019, a News Release was issued by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office seeking information regarding the suspect’s whereabouts. On Thursday, December 3, 2020, a traffic stop was conducted on a vehicle in which Nikkia Towns was a passenger. Towns provided a false name to officers and was found to be in possession of a firearm. He was subsequently arrested and has been charged with Murder in the Second Degree, Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, and Giving False Information to Police.
