Female pedestrian in critical condition after being struck by tractor trailer in Worcester

Worcester, MA – On Wednesday, December 9, 2020, at approximately 12:19 AM the Crash Reconstruction Team was activated for a serious pedestrian accident involving a commercial motor vehicle at the intersection of the Interstate 290 Eastbound off-ramp at Grafton Street. The preliminary investigation reveals that a 2016 Freightliner Tractor had exited Interstate 290 Eastbound at Grafton Street. The Freightliner Tractor had come to a stop at the red light signal. The operator was identified as a 54-year-old male of Gardner. When the light turned green the operator proceeded and collided with a pedestrian who was running across the off-ramp. The pedestrian was identified as a 44-year-old female from Auburn. She suffered head trauma and was rushed to a local hospital. She is listed in critical condition.
