PORT ST LUCIE, FL – Port St. Lucie Police rescued an elderly man, exhausted who got winded while hunting for softballs in the woods near the Sandhill Crane Park softball complex.
On December 20, 2020 Port St Lucie Police responded to Sandhill Crane Park in response to an “elderly male calling for help”. Officers arrived on scene and found, a 74-year-old male lying in the woods next to a fence. Police learned that he was in the woods at Sandhill Crane Park, searching for softballs, that he refurbishes.
Due to physical exhaustion, the male was unable to get himself out of the woods. Because of the heavily wooded area and fence, Port St Lucie Police Officers used Department issued bolt cutters, to cut the fence and rescue him. He estimates that he had been there for over an hour. He was transported to a local hospital by St. Lucie County Fire Rescue.
The Port St Lucie Police Department would like to thank the unknown caller who alerted the Port St. Lucie Police Department, so he could get the medical attention he desperately needed. Bolt cutters are part of a kit, that all Port St Lucie Police Sergeants working Road Patrol receive.
