ATLANTIC CITY, NJ – New Jersey’s Lt. Governor Sheila Oliver was scheduled to participate in a ribbon-cutting ceremony in Atlantic City on Monday morning. The state was also supposed to be able to start vaccinating at-risk senior citizens starting Monday morning. Neither is happening. It’s not clear why Oliver postponed her ribbon cutting at the AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center’s Frontline Healthcare Worker COVID-19 Vaccination Clinic.
That event was to feature HUD Secretary Ben Carson, Congressman Jeff Van Drew, and Atlantic City Mayor Marty Small. An update about the postponement was sent at 8:00 pm on Sunday. No reason was given.
Also on Monday, the state was scheduled to begin vaccinating senior citizens in nursing homes and assisted living facilities statewide, but after a paperwork filing error by New Jersey Department of Health Commissioner Judy Persichilli. Those residents will now have to wait until at least December 28th for their vaccines after the Murphy administration failed to meet a critical filing deadline.
