Sex and battery charges filed against man who abducted 15-year-old girl

VOLUSIA COUNTY, FL – Florida deputies have charged a man involved in a missing child case back in November with even more charges, this time, ranging from battery to promoting a sexual performance of a child.

“After further investigation into this missing child case from early November, Hilario Maldonado has been charged with additional counts of lewd or lascivious battery, directing or promoting a sexual performance of a child and possession of a sexual performance by a child,” Detective Steven Wheeler said.

In November, the hunt was on in Volusia County for Maldonado who had abducted a 15-year-old girl from DeBary.  He was later caught with the child and arrested for interfering with child custody.

Anyone who has information about potentially similar encounters involving Maldonado is asked to contact Det. Steven Wheeler at SWheeler@vcso.us.
