16 Units Damaged in Virginia Beach Apartment Fire

VIRGINIA BEACH, VA –  On Sunday, the Virginia Beach Fire Department responded to a multi-alarm fire at an apartment complex. On 12-27-20 around 1637 hours, VBFD responded to a multifamily apartment fire in the 1700 block of Yellow Knife Trail in the Indian Lakes Apartments. Engine 19 on scene reported heavy fire showing on floors 1 and 2 and upgraded the response to a 2nd alarm. The fire was under control at 1716 hours and marked out at 1753 hours. 24 units were involved of which 10 have severe damage and 14 with moderate smoke and water damage. 16 units are uninhabitable, the Red Cross has been contacted. One civilian was transported to an area hospital with smoke inhalation issue. The cause is under investigation.  Photo captured from YouTube video below, release by VBFD.
